Here are some of the most memorable milestones:
Playgroup
- My House: Welcome to the Houses of Dunalastair with the Year 13 House Captains.
Prekinder
- Bumblebee: Learning the 4 Bs — Be respectful, Be responsible, Be safe, Be kind.
Kinder
- Getting Ready for 1st Grade: Workshop with Year 1 students to prepare for the transition.
Year 2
- An Author is Born in Me: First story of my own, symbolising the beginning of writing.
Year 4
- First Camp: First camp, three days to learn teamwork.
Year 6
- Monitors: Recognition for those who best represent Dunalastair’s values.
- Challenge Camp: Second camp, strengthening autonomy and leadership.
Year 8
- Knowledge Journey: A week-long trip to connect with nature and science.
Year 9 to 12
- International experiences: Academic and sports programmes that broaden horizons and develop a global mindset.
Year 12
- Rose Ceremony: Assembly between Year 1 and 12, representing the entire cycle.
- Prefects: Students chosen for their values and leadership.
- Flower Ceremony (Year 12): Last day of school ceremony.
Student and Parent Journey
Each shared milestone is a celebration of learning and the connection between families and school.
- Star of the Week (Playgroup to Kinder): A week focused on the student and their family.
- Firefly Ceremony (Year 1): First public reading.
- Second Grade Musical (Year 2): First musical in front of the parents.
- My First Concert (Year 3): First band or orchestra concert.
- My First Exhibition (Year 4): First academic presentation to parents.
- Integrated Project (Year 9): Thesis type project with defence and exhibition.
- Senior Year Musical: A tradition that symbolises the culmination of 15 years of learning.
- Graduation: Closing ceremony with awards presentation.
Parent Journey
At Dunalastair, families also learn, grow and connect.
Talks, workshops, and meetings enable them to accompany each stage of their children’s development.
