MiniBees

MiniBees

Educational experience for children aged 2 and above, based on play, wellbeing and nature.

MiniBees is an educational programme aimed at children born in 2023 (for MiniBees 2026) and born in 2024 (for MiniBees 2027), whose purpose is to accompany their early development through play, exploration, contact with nature and meaningful experiences that strengthen curiosity, autonomy and well-being.

Learning with porpuse

At MiniBees, play and nature are the starting point for developing essential skills in this early stage:

  • Social-emotional development: secure attachments, trust, and exploration of the environment.
  • Communication: emotional expression and participation in shared experiences.
  • Understanding the environment: observing natural cycles and discovering patterns.
  • Motor skills: free movement, experimentation and autonomy.
  • Creativity: exploration and creation with natural and unstructured materials.
  • Values: respect for life, the environment and environmental awareness.

Each experience is designed to ensure that learning occurs in a lively, free and meaningful way from the earliest years.

MiniBees is not a formal school level; it is an independent programme that precedes the Early Years cycle. Its purpose is to provide a safe, welcoming and caring environment where young children can develop holistically, in line with Dunalastair’s educational philosophy.

A comprehensive educational experience

MiniBees is inspired by five principles that guide every experience:

  1. Play as a focus: Learning through discovery.
  2. Nature as a classroom: Natural spaces integrated into learning.
  3. Comprehensive approach: Physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
  4. Exploration and inquiry: Learning by observing and asking questions.
  5. Wellbeing and independence: Routines that strengthen confidence and self-care.

Our MiniBees are naturally exposed to the English language through songs, greetings, and routines, within a bilingual environment that promotes curiosity about language.

Inspiring environments

MiniBees spaces are designed to encourage discovery:

  • Construction: Stacking, fitting together and handling natural materials.
  • Art: Explore textures, colours, and open materials.
  • Quiet zone: Space with soft lighting, books and cushions.
  • Symbolic play: Imagining, acting out and sharing your own stories.

Outdoors, learning expands with gardens, sensory trails, and explorations that connect children with nature.
