Sustainability

Sustainability at Dunalastair

At Dunalastair, as a school with an innovative educational project, we believe in the importance of working towards a better future for our students. Therefore, sustainability is one of our main strategic lines, guiding our actions and commitments to the environment.

Our Carbon Footprint

We have already measured our Carbon Footprint for the years 2022 and 2023, and we are currently in the process of measuring the 2024 footprint. This effort allows us to understand our impact and establish concrete strategies to effectively reduce it. Thanks to this commitment, we have obtained certification seals and we will continue to move forward to obtain more and more recognitions that validate our work in sustainability.

Renewable Energy

One of our most ambitious projects has been the construction of a large photovoltaic plant in the car park of Dunalastair Chicureo, which has more than 500 solar panels. We are currently evaluating the implementation of this initiative in Las Condes and Peñalolén, in order to continue advancing in the use of clean and renewable energies.

Waste Management and Composting

We are developing an innovative composting project, with the Bokashi system, from the waste generated in the casino. From now on, one more teaching our students will receive will be food composting, promoting sustainable habits from an early age and contributing to the reduction of organic waste.

Commitments and Future

We are close to launching our Environmental Policy, which will set out our specific sustainability guidelines and commitments. In addition, we are defining an ambitious target to reduce our Carbon Footprint by 2030, in line with international best practice.

A Global Commitment

Dunalastair is part of Cognita Schools, a global education group that shares our commitment to sustainability and aligns, as they explain in their Sustainability Report 2023, with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our responsibility to educate citizens who are aware and prepared to face the environmental challenges of the future.

We will continue to work with determination to build an increasingly sustainable school, ensuring a learning environment committed to the planet and future generations.
