The Playgroup level marks the entrance to our school and there is a milestone of learning about the characteristics of their House, including their colour, tartan or family crest. We call this our 4 Bs: <em>Be Safe<\/em>, <em>Be Responsible, Be Respectful <\/em>and <em>Be Nice<\/em>. These broad categories of behaviour guide the actions of our community. The purpose of this milestone is to get to know the facilities they will be using the following year, reducing the uncertainty that this change can create in some students. The Kinder students spend a day with the children in 1<sup>st<\/sup> grade, who guide them through the facilities and then share a snack and a break in the playground. In this activity they write their stories in a workshop and receive feedback from teachers. For this reason, between Year 3 &amp; 6 all students learn to play an instrument of their choice and take part in the school orchestra or band.<\/p><p>In Year 3 they perform a concert for their parents and teachers for the first time. It mobilises the skills that are at the core of the project-based learning methodology. They move to a model with subject teachers who share less time with them, demanding more independence and autonomy.
