This month an anti-bullying campaign commenced within the school. Children were given a pamphlet to take home so as to read it with their families and understand the concept of being a good wholesome person.
During classes, teachers choose the students that make an effort to comply with the being friendly rules, and they are given a Blue Positive Report. When the student has accumulated three of these, then they are given a Golden Mention Slip which is handed to them during an assembly. (Negative Orange slips are also given to those students that show a negative attitude towards fellow students and teachers.)
We have noticed that students are very happy with this campaign and are becoming more aware of how they can be better friends, students and work towards being better persons.
The outlines of the pamphlet are:
YOU ARE NICE TO OTHERS WHEN YOU...
1. Are RESPECTFUL: Treat others like you would like to be treated.
2. Are HONEST: Tell the truth.
3. Are TOLERANT: Accept others the way they are.
4. Are RESPONSIBLE: Own up when you are at fault.
YOU ARE A GOOD FRIEND WHEN YOU...
1. Help a friend in need.
2. Protect a friend when being mocked or bothered.
3. Care for your friends’ feelings.
WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM YOU SHOULD...
1. Try talking to the person who is not being nice to you
2. Tell someone you trust
3. Don´t forget that it is always good to ask for help
SO REMEMBER,
DO THE RIGHT THING!!!
