On Wednesday 30th of April The Mayflower School hosted the “Young Technology Event”. Ten students were involved per participating school, five from Kinder and five from Year One. The main objective was for the children to design, build or make things with their hands. It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet students from the other schools and make new friends, as the teams were composed of students from different schools.
The basic task was to make chocolate, and for this the students had to:
- Copy the recipe
- Make and decorate a cook’s apron
- Make and decorate a chef’s hat
- Make a basket in which the chocolates would finally be placed
- Pour the molten chocolate into different molds, and decorate them with cereals, coloured sweets, etc.
- And finally, put the molds into the freezer to solidify.
The children enjoyed themselves enormously (as did their teachers!) and each child was given a diploma for having participated in the event.
