VISIT TO THE MUSEO HISTÓRICO NACIONAL

oo

We will like to tell you about our wonderful visit to the MHN (Museo Histórico Nacional) on October the 21st. Fifth and sixth grades got together to learn a little bit more about our country's history. We learned about how the people from the Colonial and Independence times got dressed in very elegant and fancy outfits, we discovered that houses near Plaza de Armas were the most expensive and wealthy ones, and we also found out more about many important historical personalities such as Bernardo O’Higgins, Diego de Almagro, Pedro de Valdivia, and many others.

We saw how our country was before the Spanish arrived to our continent, and we learned a lot about the native Mapuche. We also had the opportunity to observe many representations of wars, and were amazed by interesting facts: did you know that African slaves also fought in Chilean battles for Independence? Or that battles such as Batalla de Maipú were held in open fields, and soldiers who were standing in the first row always died first?

We learned a lot about how people lived during those days; their houses, artifacts and means of transport were so different from what we have now.

We had the most wonderful time, and we definitely want to come back with our family and friends.
