The recent appearance of swine flu has given us two major responsibilities. The first one is to make our students aware of its existence, and of the basic norms of hygiene associated with preventing contagion. But we must also make the best use possible, as a school, of the opportunity for our students to learn from what is happening. How did the virus appear? How do they mutate? How does contagion spread? What is a pandemic? What are its possible consequences in terms of our health, or in other social and economic aspects?
We hope our families will also discuss this at home, and take all necessary and prudent preventative measures. The single greatest contribution that you can all make to our community, is to not send your children to school if they are ill, in particular with flu-related symptoms.
