There was an abundance of emotion on Saturday 11th, as the children of Los Maitenes were able to see the results of the project that rebuilt the damage wing of their school. The new facilities included four new fully-equipped classrooms,  new offices for Senior Management, and a Common Room for the staff. The day was one of celebration by both school communities, clearly underlined in the speeches by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, the Head of Los Maitenes, and our own Headmaster.

The Los Maitenes community regaled the visitors with folk dancing that is typical of the locality, and presented Dunalastair management with baskets of local produce as a token of their thanks for the commitment to the re-building project, and their vision of a quality education for all.

A delegation of students, teachers and parents from both Dunalastair campuses was present, and the Parents’ Association, who have backed the project all the way, arranged for games that delighted the children after the ceremony.
